I became more familiar with the hybrids when I took a job at a local Toyota dealership. I daresay that these type of cars will be the next Supercars that everyone will be wanting and tuning. 

 

Why?

 

When a manufacturer can build an already stunning vehicle like, the honda accord or toyota camry, add more weight to it (hybrid components) and still have it perform better on paper and on the street, you have yourself the beginnings of the new performance hall of fame.  Why buy a regular camry or accord when you can just upgrade to a more fuel efficient, faster and  more luxurious hybrid?

 

 

 

People have said to me "Why should I pay more for a hybrid?  It will never pay for itself?" A hybrid will never pay for itself in the form of gas savings.  It does pay for itself in the form of reducing pollution for our children, better performance on the street, far more luxury inside the vehicle (ever ride in a super quiet car?) and making the technology cheaper for the near future for everyone.  Never pay for itself?  Does your gas guzzling car pay for itself?

 

There has been talk recently about Europe downsizing the emissions of cars.  To the naive this means smaller and slower cars.  to the educated this means cars that perform better at higher speeds and torque ratios than your average Lamborghini.

 

 

 

Tesla is one that has seen the future of the sports car and has answered with an electric car based on a lotus platform.  The Telsa Motor's car is sold out for 2008.  This is testament to how we are turning into technology junkies.

 

 

 

There are more choices than ever now in your hybrid selection,  most of them are toyota based.  Ford's hybrid system is Toyota's first generation hybrid platform (ford purchased the rights) Honda is out of the market for now.  and toyota is the dominator bringing to you their second generation hybrid to the masses at affordable prices.
